Kitchen Coatto
A moment to unwind in the city.
Located in Ohara, Setagaya, Kitchen Coatto serves unpretentious Japanese Western-style teishoku, from pork ginger sauté to katsu curry and omurice, suited for solo dining day and night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A reassuring aroma rises from the pans at Kitchen Coatto, situated near the Koshu Kaido in Ohara, Setagaya. The restaurant is a dependable stop for hearty, unpretentious yoshoku—Japan's distinctive take on Western cooking—served in generous set meals. Meat dishes anchor the teishoku lineup, including pork ginger sauté, pork with teriyaki-mayo sauce, pork loin cutlet, and chicken cutlet blanketed in demi-glace. Each set comes with steamed rice, miso soup, and a side salad.
Beyond the teishoku staples, the curry and rice selections are just as inviting. The katsu curry pairs freshly fried cutlet with rich curry sauce, while the omurice arrives with soft, tender eggs, alongside omu-hayashi rice coated in a savory hashed beef sauce. A daily limited-quantity lunch special adds variety, giving regular patrons something different to look forward to.
The casual dining room is arranged with table seating, making it comfortable for solo diners looking for an easy, quiet meal. The kitchen also prepares small side dishes such as butter-sautéed mushrooms and ham cutlets, which work well alongside a cold beer before the meal or as additions to a set. Note that payment is cash only, so it is wise to have yen ready before sitting down.
